Effect of Sowing Methods and Seeding Rates on Growth, Yield and Yield Components of Tef (<i>Eragrostis Tef</i>) in Ebinat Districts, South Gondar, Ethiopia

The study was conducted during 2013/14 main cropping season in Ebinat district with the aim of studying effects seeding rates and row sowing methods on growth, yield components tef. Planting material improved tef variety ‘Quencho’ (DZ-01-387) used as a test crop for experiments. Two factors 3 (5, 7.5 & 10 kg/ha) inter-row spacing (15cm, 20cm 25cm) were combined to form 9 treatment. treatments laid out randomized complete block design (RCBD) three replications. Days 50% emergence, days heading, 90% physiological maturity, plant population. Total tiller number per plant, effective tiller, height, panicle length, spikelet’s panicle, biomass straw yield, thousand seed weight, grain harvest index important attributes data collection. Analysis variance (ANOVA) all parameters computed SAS 9.0 software mean separation done using least significance difference (LSD). results ANOVA analyses showed that method 50%heading, total tillers tillers, weight significantly (P<0.05) influenced by spacing, while population, height highly (P<0.01) affected spacing.
